Softball Tournament

Description: 12-and-counting New Jersey teams are playing in the annual Battle of the Barristers softball tournament, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Greater Newark Area Fresh Air Fund, which was created in 1882 and provides free summer camp experiences for inner-city children from disadvantaged communities in the Greater Newark area. Last year's winner, Hackensack-based law firm Cole Schotz (www.coleschotz.com), is organizing the event, led by Cole Schotz partner Warren Usatine. Additional teams are invited to join the tournament. Every dollar raised goes to the Greater Newark Area Fresh Air Fund. Deadline: Tuesday, June 15

Price: Initial deposit of $2,000 per team; final amount ranges from $5,500 to $8,500, incentivized for performance

Location: Brookdale Park-Watchung Avenue- Montclair

Other Info: The championship game will be held at 6 p.m. in Montclair State University’s Yogi Berra Stadium. Rain date: Thursday, July 22.
