Discovery is almost over, and the next event is the daily call. Are you ready? This seminar shall explore the basics of a civil jury trial, with an emphasis on the techniques of effective trial advocacy. Additionally, we’ll take you through the steps of pretrial preparation, including:  the use (and abuse!) of trial subpoenas and notices to produce; preparing the client for trial; preparing your experts; preparing the witness list and the  order of presentation; marshaling the physical evidence necessary for your case;  preparation and submission of pretrial materials to the court; and pretrial motions.  Also, we’ll examine the techniques of jury selection; opening statements; the fine art of effective and compelling presentation of your case on direct; objections, delays and other impediments to the orderly progress of trial; “resting”  your case and trial motions; techniques of cross-examination; jury instructions; closing statements; and jury questions.
