This seminar will provide an overview of how the Criminal Justice Reform and Speedy Trial provisions that went into effect on January 1st of this year have impacted criminal practice in Essex so far. All attorneys involved in criminal practice, including at the municipal level. This program will include the overlap between Municipal and Superior Court as well as issues of juvenile and DV.

This seminar will provide an overview of how the Criminal Justice Reform and Speedy Trial provisions that went into effect on January 1st of this year have impacted criminal practice in Essex so far.  Topics to be addressed include:

·Speedy Trial

·Detention Hearings

·State v. Ingram

·State v. Robinson

·CJR’s impact on domestic violence matters

 Who should attend?

All attorneys involved in criminal practice, including at the  municipal level.  This program will include the overlap between Municipal and Superior Court as well as issues of juvenile and DV.

 

*  ECBA Members must be in good standing to attend the seminar for free. YLS include ECBA Members admitted 1-8 years.

This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal  Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 110 minutes (2.2) of total CLE credits. Of these, 2.2 credits may be applied for certified criminal trial attorneys. By virtue of reciprocity, this program may also be applied for 2.2 NY CLE Credits.  CLE Credit  for  PA is available upon request for an additional $10 fee.
